<p>IIT Bombay is delighted to inform that it has secured second position in the Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2021 under the CFTI’s category ‘Institute of National Importance (Technical)’. For the third consecutive year, IIT Bombay secured second position in ARIIA rankings.</p><p>The result of ARIIA was announced by the Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Dr. Subhas Sarkar, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in presence of Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, MoE, Govt. of India, Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and others.</p><p>Earlier, in 2020 and 2019 ARIIA rankings, IIT Bombay stood second under the category of the ‘Publicly-Funded Institutions’.</p><p>Last year the ARIIA participating institutions were categorized into two broad categories viz. ‘Publicly Funded Institutions’ and ‘Private or Self-Financed Institutions’ whereas ARIIA 2021 classified the participating institutions into Technical and Non-Technical categories.</p><p>Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Bombay said, “Innovation plays a major role in today's higher education. IIT Bombay puts a lot of emphasis in creating an ambiance that is conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship. We are happy to note this recognition, but there is scope for further improving the ecosystem”.</p><p>Prof. Milind Atrey, Dean (R&D), IIT Bombay said, “IIT Bombay remains committed to promote innovation and entrepreneurship efforts of our researchers. ARIIA ranking is a validation of our relentless efforts to create a world-class ecosystem to help create Atmanirbhar Bharat”.</p><p>Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) was initiated by the Ministry of Education (formerly Ministry of Human Resource Development), Government of India on August 30, 2018, to systematically rank all major higher educational institutions and universities in India on parameters related to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” amongst students and faculty members. The parameters used for consideration for ARIIA rankings include budget, facilities, awareness, entrepreneurship, commercialization, learning methods and governance.</p>
