IIT Bombay participated in the educational fair in Chittagong, Bangladesh on February 26 and 27, 2019, and in Dhaka, Bangladesh on March 1 and 2, 2019. The fair was organized by 'Study in India', an initiative by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The 'Study in India' initiative aims to make India a preferred education hub for students from across the globe, by elevating its position in the global educational landscape.
Along with IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IISER Kolkata and IIM Bangalore also participated in the said fair.
Prof. Kishore Chatterjee from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Mr. Arnab Das, Executive Officer (International Relations) represented IIT Bombay in the fair. The team was accompanied by the alumni of IIT Bombay from Bangladesh. In Chittagong, Mr. Avishek Ghosh, MTech, Civil Engg. (2018), and Mr. Ayon Das, MTech, Civil Engg. (2018) were present in the stall of IIT Bombay. In Dhaka, Mr. Sohel Rana, MTech, Civil Engg (2018) and Mr. Apurba Karmakar, MTech, Electrical Engg. (2018) were present in the stall. The presence of the alumni of IIT Bombay instilled a sense of confidence and enthusiasm among the visitors.
The IIT Bombay team along with the alumni from Bangladesh interacted effectively with Mr Jishnu Prasad Mukherjee, First Officer, Education, High Commission of India, Dhaka, to encourage more students from Bangladesh to join various academic programs at IIT Bombay.
