Institute appreciates Corona Warriors on the occasion of Republic Day

<p>The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) celebrated the 72nd Republic Day at the Institute’s campus on January 26, 2021. Following the COVID-19 rules and guidelines, this year’s Republic Day was celebrated with minimum number of attendees by maintaining social distance.</p><p>The celebration began with the unfurling of the national flag by the Institute’s Director Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri at the Institute’s gymkhana ground. Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri addressed the gathering. IIT Bombay security staff gave the salute to the national flag. The entire programme was broadcast live.&nbsp;</p><p>This year, the Institute appreciated the Corona Warriors from IIT Bombay community who worked during the lockdown and extended their helping hand to the needy during the pandemic. As a token of gratitude, 938 IIT Bombay staff, faculty, students were felicitated and given certificates online in appreciation of the work performed during the pandemic.&nbsp;</p><p>Besides this, names of winners of an essay writing competition on “Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat (Vigilant India, Prosperous India): My Roadmap” held during Vigilance Awareness Week 2020 were displayed on screen during the live event. Respecting the COVID-19 guidelines, the Institute decided not to conduct any performances and march past on the occasion this year.</p>
